Dr. Afar graduated from UCLA with a degree in Microbiology. He continued his education at UCLA School of Dentistry for
his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and Master of Science in Oral Biology. He received a California State Fellowship,
Hortense Fishbaugh's Scholarship, Oral Biology Graduate Fellowship, and Regent's of University of California nominee
throughout his dental education. After finishing dental school, Dr. Afar was among the top 5% of graduating students
in the nation to receive The Dentist-Scientist Fellowship from National Institute of Health to continue his dental
education and research in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at University of Washington, Seattle.
Dr. Afar has been an active member of organized dentistry at the American Dental Association (ADA) and the
California Dental Association (CDA) and Western Dental Society. Dr. Afar is a Fellow of the International Congress
of Oral Implantologists and Associate Fellow of American Society of Osseointegration. He is trained in all aspect
of Implant Dentistry from placement to the restorative stages. In addition to his practice in several locations,
Dr. Afar has taught part-time at UCLA School of Dentistry as a Clinical Faculty and Research Associate.
He has lectured to several groups on the topics of Implant and Periodontics Tissue-Management.
